In the third quarter of 2025, global silicon wafer shipments increased by 3.1% year-on-year, reaching 3313 million square inches (MSI), compared to 3.214 billion square inches in the same period of 2024.

On November 4, 2025, California time, according to the quarterly analysis report of the silicon wafer industry released by SEMI's Silicon Manufacturers Group (SMG), global silicon wafer shipments in the third quarter of 2025 increased by 3.1% year-on-year, reaching 3313 million square inches (MSI), compared to 3.214 billion square inches in the same period of 2024. On a month on month basis, the shipment volume decreased by 0.4% compared to the 3327 million square inches in the second quarter of this year, indicating that there are still signs of weakness in areas such as epitaxial wafers during the recovery process.

Li Chongwei, Chairman of SEMI SMG and Vice President of GlobalWafers, stated that there was a significant year-on-year increase in silicon wafer shipments in the first nine months of 2025, mainly due to the growth in 300mm wafer shipments for advanced logic, cloud infrastructure, and storage needs. Artificial intelligence has driven large-scale investment in advanced processes, thereby driving the growth of wafer demand
